Michigan International Speedway racetrack officials have unveiled plans for a truly unique campground that will open in 2012.

APEX is a deluxe trackside campground of 20 spaces, giving camping guests the best, most exciting view of the racetrack – all from the apex of Turn 3.

Each trackside campsite is 20- x 55-feet wide and has water and electric hookups, a picnic table and grill. The sites overlook Turn 3, so guests will be able to feel the surge of 43 NASCAR stock cars at speeds of close to 200 mph.

The views and excitement will be awesome. But the personalized service is what will distinguish the campground from all others in NASCAR.

A concierge service for guests of the campground will be offered – an exclusive opportunity for fans who stay there to be pampered and catered to by a professional butler.

“We have always tried to make our customers feel like kings,” Roger Curtis, president of MIS, said. “But this new campground will go the extra mile for our guests – literally. If you need a ride to the New Holland Fan Plaza, the concierge can take you there.”

A concierge will assist guests with anything they need to enjoy a race weekend in the Michigan. Need a tee time before the race? Need a ride to the garage? Where’s the best place to dine? Need ice? Just ask the concierge for advice, guidance and assistance for most of your MIS camping and weekend needs.

Admission to APEX is $1,600 per site, plus $250 per person for the weekend, up to 10 people per site. Each guest will receive a scanner rental and weekend pit access. Two people per site will also receive NASCAR garage passes for the weekend.

Guests interested in camping in APEX should call MIS ticket agent Ian Kirkpatrick at 517-592-1285 for details. Because of the limited number of sites, spaces will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis to renewal guests and then to deposit guests.

All RVs in APEX must be self-contained. APEX will open on Thursday of race week, and remain open until the Monday after the race.

Family Motor Coach Association will rally March 14 – 17, 2011 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter, and approximately 2,800 motorhomes and some 10,000 people are expected to gather for this fun-filled event, which has been dubbed “Southern Homecoming.”

The association hosts conventions twice a year in varying locations with the purpose of celebrating the motorhome lifestyle and is making its seventh visit to Perry, so the “Southern Homecoming” theme is most appropriate for this particular venue.

Convention activities include a motorhome exhibition that brings together major motorhome manufacturers and dealers from throughout the United States and Canada, as well as manufacturers and distributors of a multitude of RV accessories and components, and suppliers of various services related to RVs.

For those considering the purchase of a motorhome, the convention provides an opportunity to view an assortment of makes and models all in one location. A variety of 2011 models, in many different sizes and price ranges, will be on display and for sale.

In addition to the motorhome show, highlights include seminars on a variety of topics related to motorhomes and RV travel, tours involving local sites and scenes, daytime and evening entertainment, and numerous social activities.

While the convention is organized for Family Motor Coach Association members, the organization also invites members of the public to attend and provides various admission options. For those who want to view only the motorhome exhibition, admission costs $7 per day; children 12 and under are admitted free with an accompanying adult. Admission also is free for those with an active military ID.

Those who would prefer to take in the exhibits and also attend seminars and entertainment may purchase a Daily Passport, which is available for $65 per person ($55 for FMCA members).

Those who own a motorhome are invited to take part in all of the activities and also to bring their motorhome and stay with the rest of the group at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. The price for non-FMCA members is $235; this non-member fee automatically grants a one-year FMCA membership to the motorhome owner. The FMCA member price is $185.

A special invitation is being extended to owners of all self-contained towable RVs to attend the event in Perry in their RV. Non-member prices apply for those with towable RVs, and they will receive a one-year subscription to Family Motor Coaching magazine in lieu of the membership.

The association welcomes all motorhome owners as members. Dues are $50 for the first year, and $40 per year thereafter. Those who do not yet own a motorhome but are interested in learning more may sign up for a subscription to Family Motor Coaching magazine for $30 per year.
