Jackson Center, Ohio – Airstream, the most recognized RV manufacturer in North America, reported a significant order input at the RVIA 2011 National Expo in Louisville, KY, for both travel trailers and motorhomes. These numbers reflect strong continuing growth for the iconic company, which more than doubled its sales at this important event when compared with last year.

RV show order input comes on top of an already strong year where Airstream has experienced a doubling of trailer sales, and a 175 percent increase on vans. The spike in orders is directly related to dealer confidence in inventory turns and strong retail interest from customers who are intrigued by new units Airstream is bringing to market. Airstream recognizes its dealers’ commitment to the brand and strong performance in retail as a big driver in the success experienced at the show.

Airstream took the opportunity at the Expo to introduce several new products, including the extended Interstate 3500 EXT Class B motorhome and the 27’ Eddie Bauer Airstream travel trailer. Most notably, the company unveiled the “Sterling Concept” trailer designed by Christopher Deam, offering strong hints about future design direction. At its core, Airstream’s stylish trailers and touring coaches are designed to give consumers the ability to experience the outdoors to the fullest.

“The growing interest in Airstream can readily be attributed to the iconic design, premium quality, and the sense of community our brand represents while on the road,” said Airstream CEO Bob Wheeler. “Furthermore, we are seeing now more than ever that people are multi-purposing their Airstreams for both commercial and personal use, and our market share is growing accordingly.”

Winnebago 2012 Era Motorhome

Winnebago 2012 Era Motorhome

The 2012 Era Class B motorhome is nimble, maneuverable, easy-to-drive and most important – fuel efficient, achieving 18-19 mpg, according to Winnebago Industries Vice President of Sales and Marketing Roger Martin. “Backed by a 11,030-lb. GVWR Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis and a turbo-diesel Mercedes-Benz engine, the Era is a fully functional motorhome that is perfect for weekend or weeklong trips, with enhanced storage and seven belted positions for seating flexibility. Featuring the 70X floorplan, this Class B stands out from the rest – at a price that is unbeatable and thousands less than some competitors.”

Winnebago said its Era combines comfort, function and innovation into one stylish floorplan – the 70X. In the cab area, the Ultraleather cab seats easily swivel to face the two companion seats for a perfect place for conversation or dining when using the moveable pedestal table.

The companion seats can also be removed via a quick release lever when more cargo space is needed. In fact, the Era offers a removable wardrobe that can substitute for the companion chair behind the driver’s seat when more storage is needed, the company said.

In the rear of the coach, a powered 70-inch sofa/bed is featured. At the press of a button, the sofa folds flat into a large 70-inch by 80-inch bed. More storage is found underneath the sofa/bed that is easily accessible from the large rear doors that open 270 degrees for full access.

The Era also has a 22-inch LED HDTV that extends and swivels 180 degrees for easy viewing from the front or rear of the coach. Add in a fully equipped galley, efficient bathroom and numerous cab features, like an available infotainment center with GPS, voice guidance, CD/DVD and a 7-inch touch screen, and the Era is the complete package.

On the exterior, the Era features a 5,000-lb. hitch, graphics and an optional awning. An exterior accessories package is also available that includes polished stainless steel grill bar covers and rocker panel trim.

The Era joins Winnebago Industries’ other Sprinter-based motorhomes, the Class C Winnebago View and View Profile, Itasca Navion and Navion iQ, as well as Class A Winnebago Via and Itasca Reyo, in offering the most fuel efficient lineup in the industry.

These coaches on average earn 15-19 mpg.

“Winnebago Industries is the only RV manufacturer to offer an impressive Class A, B and C lineup that offers customers fuel efficiency, innovative features and comfort in one,” said Martin. “We challenge RVers to find more fuel efficient motor homes on the market today.”

Discover Canada RV Ltd., based in Oshawa, Ontario, has entered into an agreement with an Oregon-based RV manufacturer to provide towables designed to Canadian specifications to dealers in British Columbia and a good portion of Alberta. The new partnership will save dealers in the western provinces approximately 30 percent in freight costs, originally incurred when shipping units from manufacturers in Elkhart, Ind., according to Discover Canada RV.
