Bay Area RV Expo Summer of FunSky River RV has announced that it will host the Bay Area RV Expo “Summer of Fun”. The Bay Area RV Expo will be held from August 17 through the 26th at Sky River RV’s dealership in Dublin California.

“It will be the Northern California premier of the new product offerings from many of the industry’s leading RV manufacturers,” said Scott Thorpe, managing partner. “We will be showcasing some of the latest RVs just released from the industries finest manufacturers. It’s a great atmosphere and experience for the first time or experienced RV buyers. With interactive virtual displays it gets our customers as close to what the RV lifestyle is about before they make their purchase. Our interactive shopping tool “eRVin” is available for customers attending the expo. “eRVin is one more step in the interactive virtual presentation of product at Sky River RV Dublin. “eRVin” gives the customers answers to their questions straight from the manufacturer.”

The event will offer new and pre-owned RV’s covering the entire RV spectrum. It is an opportunity for the customer to see the A-Z of RV’s in one convenient location. Manufacturers new products that will be on display include Skyline, Monaco R-Vision, Keystone, Newmar, Thor Motor Coach, Extreme Warrior, Livn’ Lite, Travel Lite, Riverside RV and others. An additional outdoor display will handle the overflow of products. Manufactures representatives and service technicians will be available for questions from the consumer.

Anyone who attends the expo will be able to enter a raffle for a new zero electric motorcycle and a RV get-away with no purchase necessary. With over 4 acres of the show under roof, weather will not have an impact on the expo. The event will offer free parking, free admission, free hot dogs, and entertainment for the entire family.

Tin Can Tourist Club LogoThe campsite already full, Debbie Lennen was busy Thursday, registering the early arrivals for this weekend’s “Trailers in the Trees.” The event is one of only a few RV rallies in Northern California each year.

Trailers in the Trees has been held since 2006 at Felton’s Smithwoods RV Park, drawing RV enthusiasts from around the state for a weekend of camaraderie. But during a four-hour window Saturday, they’ll also get the chance to show off, opening up their intricately restored vintage RVs for public tours.

Owners have registered 42 vintage trailers for the event, twice the number that showed up at the rally’s first year. It’s the brainchild of Santa Cruz resident Penny Cotter and her husband, who in 2006 restored the 1962 Shasta Airflyte that they’ll bring to the show this weekend. They spent about $2,000 to restore the trailer, but kept costs down by doing the work themselves. But “some people get them professionally restored and pay $20,000 and $30,000,” Cotter said.

Smithwoods has been family owned and operated since 1920, when Charles and Frances Smith purchased 13 acres and named it Big Trees Auto Camp, according to the park’s website. Through the years, subsequent generations have taken the reins, and it’s now operated by the original founders’ granddaughter and her great-grandsons.

Because Smithwoods is relatively small, the number of participants has held steady in recent years at about 40 trailers. But at the next Northern California RV rally, held in Petaluma in early October, organizers hope to double that number.

Cotter also operates a website that’s geared toward vintage RV enthusiasts and aims to “promote and preserve vintage trailers and motor coaches through gatherings and information exchange.” To view a list of upcoming rallies, go to www.tincantourists.com.  Story Source
