Winnebago Itasca Impulse Class C Motorhome

Winnebago Industries Inc. has been recognized by Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), a retail reporting service in Grand Rapids, Mich., as the top-performing motorhome manufacturer with both the largest volume and the largest overall growth in motorhome retail registrations during calendar 2012.

In the U.S. motorhome retail registration report issued Wednesday (Feb. 13) for December of 2012, Winnebago Industries was listed as the top selling manufacturer for Class A and Class C motorhomes in calendar 2012, with market share of 20.6% compared to 19.0% for calendar 2011, according to a Winnebago news release. Winnebago Industries’ volume growth was 16.1% above retail registrations during calendar 2011 compared to industry growth of 7.3%.

In the U.S. Class A market segment, Winnebago Industries is also the top-selling market leader with 22.2% for calendar 2012. In addition, the company also led the U.S. Class A gas market segment with 24.2% market share, grew U.S. Class A diesel market share to 19.4% and U.S. Class C market share to 18.5% for calendar 2012.

NeXus RV, a factory direct manufacturer of Class C and Class B+ Motorhomes is introducing a brand new product built on the Navistar International Terra Star chassis. The new Super C Luxury motorhome is called the Ghost.

Year-over-year Canadian motorhome sales declined 21.2 percent in June while registrations rose 2.7 percent for the six months. Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) reported that data for the provinces of British Columbia and Ontario are incomplete.

Forest River Inc. was the Canadian motorhome sales leader through June, capturing a 24.6 percent market share, followed by Thor Industries Inc. (23.1 percent) and Winnebago Industries Inc. (14.1 percent).

June Class A registrations fell 22.8 percent from the year prior and 1.5 percent year-to-date. Thor was No. 1 in the category for the first six months with a 23.1 percent market share, ahead of Fleetwood RV Inc. (15.7 percent) and Winnebago (14.8 percent).

In the Class C segment, sales dropped 19.9 percent for June but were up 6.4 percent for the six months. Forest River held the No. 1 spot year-to-date with a 35.9 percent market share followed by Thor (23.1 percent) and Winnebago (13.4 percent).
