1851972ANCHORAGE, Ak– A school ground isn’t your typical camp site, but these campers are doing more than just roasting marshmellows.

“It can be a free sport for the whole summer, we just ask that they provide eyes and ears adn walk around the school grounds,” Andre Camara, Camper Host Manager.

Vandalism was on the rise before the camper host program.

“Thus costing the school district thousands of dollars,” Camara.

Although there aren’t specific number, over the years with the camper host program vandalism has decreased.

“That the amount we spend on vandalism has begun to decrease each year and I can attribute that to having camper hosts provide an extra set of eyes and ears on the school grounds through out the summer,” said Camara.
