JUSTICEBURG TX — The large grass fire that threatened homes and hundreds of RVs in southeast Garza County on Sunday was 95 percent contained by Monday afternoon.

The Texas Forest Service reported the burned a total of 6,000 acres about 18 miles south of Post and threatened 20 homes and 400 RVs. All of the threatened structures were saved.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad sustained some damage and was closed.

The Texas Department of Transportation detoured traffic around U.S. 84 from FM 1269 to FM 669 on Sunday evening and re-opened the roadway at about 3 a.m. Monday.
