According to keenesentinel.com, a new campground at Monadnock State Park will open next week.

The Gilson Pond Campground boasts 40 campsites, including five walk-in sites, and a new campground and bathhouse.

The campground is the first built by the N.H. Division of Parks in 40 years and replaces a 21-site campground at the headquarters of the park built in 1935.

The headquarters campground will now be used for youth group camping, according to a news release from state parks officials.

A grand opening celebration for the new site is scheduled for Aug. 18 at 1 p.m.

Monadnock State Park, which has over 40 miles of trails, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. It is one of the state’s most visited parks.
