Cave Spring, Georgia: Three adults and one teenager were injured in what authorities believe to be a gas explosion inside a camper near Cave Spring.

Firefighters from Cave Spring Fire Engine 16 and Rescue 16, along with Rome Fire Engine 7 and Car 25, responded to the Fosters Mill R.V. Park near the intersection of GA 100 and Blacks Bluff Road just after 6 p.m. Saturday evening.

Initial calls to 911 indicated that a motorhome exploded and that at least one person was burned due to clothing catching on fire.

While the cause of the fire was still being investigated, witnesses told Rome Newswire that a man and woman had rented the space in the RV park yesterday and moved the camper there. The other male and teen were visiting the couple this evening when the teen reportedly fell into nearby Cedar Creek. The teen had come inside the camper to change and warm up, and the two men were trying to light a space heater. The female victim was reportedly standing in the doorway and told the men to stop because she smelled gas. Just after that, according to the witnesses, the explosion occurred, blowing the female onto the ground.

The explosion created enough force to blow out the camper’s siding at the seams. The resulting fire also scorched the ceiling and roof of the camper before being extinguished.
