Emerald Desert RV Resort in Palm Springs, Calif. is celebrating $1 million in renovations as a rebirth, The Desert Sun reported

The previous owner’s plans to tear down the park to make way for houses didn’t pan out, and Sunland RV Resorts bought the 251-space property.

“We’ve done a lot — a lot — of things,” laughed Greg Sidoroff, Sunland RV operations manager.

Sunland poured money into redoing the ballroom and fitness center, updating the laundry, resurfacing pools, improving landscaping and other upgrades.

“The resort ballroom was completely gutted, and the lobby is just gorgeous,” Sidoroff said.

The park also offers Wi-Fi, a laundry room, three meeting rooms and a putting green.

Sidoroff said the park hadn’t changed much since it opened in 1987 and needed to be redone to keep up with today’s customers.

The relaunch of the park at 76-000 Frank Sinatra Drive was celebrated last week with a three-day Hawaii-themed celebration with luaus, fire dancers, balloon rides, Elvis impersonator concerts, “don’t hit the (metal) hula girl golfing contests,” a radio station broadcast, tours and more.
