The city of Branson, Mo., campground sits right on the shore of Lake Taneycomo, so Director of Parks and Recreation Cindy Shook is concerned about the forecast of heavy rain.

“We’re always going to experience that threat of high water. We’re on alert, we’re watching the weather,” she said.
Eight inches of rain fell in Branson Wednesday night (Aug. 7), reported.
Camper Dale Sikkenga witnessed the storm.

“I heard it was just pouring, thunder, lightning, it just came down in buckets,” he said.
But he wasn’t concerned about his safety or having to move his RV because of the comprehensive emergency plan at the park.

“They said be prepared, you know, if you have to move they’ll give us plenty of time,” Sikkenga said.
“It’s our manager on duty’s responsibility to stay on top of our lake levels, so if that means he has to stay up all night, he’ll stay up all night,” Shook said.
