>Bill and Karen Campbell have lived in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough since 1957, and although he could be the trusted watchdog in any neighborhood, he and his wife, Karen, don’t live in a subdivision.

They make their home in a 35-foot, fifth-wheel RV in Big Bear RV Park near the Trunk Road exit on the Parks Highway.

The Campbells are one of a growing number of full time Rving families who’ve adapted to life on the road. It’s a trend many Mat-Su RV parks, often family-owned small businesses, bank on to make it through the year. But recent, special attention paid by borough officials to a phrase in Mat-Su Borough law may mean full-time RV residents will be looking outside the Valley for a space to call home.

Buried in the Mat-Su Borough code on mobile home parks is a definition of RV parks as “camper parks in which travel trailers are permitted for temporary occupancy of less than 30 days.” Full Story…
