>In some parts of the country, the first robin of spring announces nicer weather to come.
Here, we have snowbirds.
When the winter visitors start arriving, you know the swelter time is officially over. The days of patio parties and outdoor activities are back.
Sure, some folks tell snowbird jokes and call them cool-weather friends.
But we miss ‘em when they stay away – and for the past three years, the snowbirds weren’t flocking to our Valley.

RVers- How do they live like that?
Full-time RVing is not dropping off the face of the earth. It is not an endless vacation. Judy Farrow and Lou Stoetzer in RVers — How do the live like that? have shown what RV life is like, styles of RVing and what to expect as a full-timer. Sprinkled with actual cases, it makes for fascinating reading and gave voice to things RVers experience but may not put into words. It is an excellent book for those thinking about the RV lifestyle and to give to relatives of RVers to get insight in the lifestyle. Current RVers will enjoy the book and find it helpful, particularly at transition points in their lives.
This book is for you if:
- You know/love someone who is an RVer
- You own (or are shopping for) an RV
- You are facing retirement
- You want to run your own life/career
- You want to be more than a tourist
- You want to improve your relationships
- You want your family and friends to support your choices
- You want to age with grace and wisdom
>AN early morning sunbake at Australia’s Mooloolaba Beach almost turned into a tragedy for four young women yesterday when an out-of-control motorhome came to rest just metres from where they were lying.
The 60-year-old driver of Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast, Brooke Habner, was attempting to reverse off wooden chocks at the Mooloolaba Caravan Park, opposite the Mantra Resort, when his sandal became caught under the accelerator, sending the vehicle plunging over sand dunes.
A protruding rock was all that stopped the vehicle from ploughing into the girls, who were lying on the sand directly in its path.

>Fun, sun and aggressive, targeted marketing are some of the magnets that tourism officials hope will attract a big crop of winter Texans this year.
Winter Texans migrate from northern, colder locales starting this month, bringing millions of tourism dollars to local economies.
Port Aransas tourism officials estimate that each winter Texan spends as much as $2,800 a month while they are in town. In neighboring Aransas County, the tourism officials say that the roughly 1,500 winter Texans that already have arrived will contribute about $450,000 a month to the local economy.
