>Several RV parks line the highway that runs through Kerrville. And police say the folks that live there or travel to them are often retirees, and often easy targets of crooks.

Early Thursday morning, while it was still dark out, police say 23 year old Andy Kidd II made his way through one of the popular RV resorts there searching for unlocked cars.

Police say he found five, and stole several valuable items from inside them.

>Michigan’s state forest campgrounds are under the scrutiny of the Department of Natural Resources for possible closure and sale due to decreased funding from the state. This goes against the opinion of many Michigan citizens who have written their representatives and senators in favor of a bill that would increase funding for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) at no additional cost to the state government.

State forest campgrounds consist of five to 20 rustic campsites nestled away in the forests of the northern Lower and Upper Peninsulas. For $15 to $20 per night, campers can enjoy the Michigan wilderness with some privacy, much unlike the traditional state park campground. Each campground contains hand pumps for drinking water, vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. Many of the campgrounds can be reached only by hiking or paddling.

Many of Michigan’s northern forests contain two-track roads that provide opportunities for interesting adventures on the mountain bike. Some of the roads are barely suitable for vehicular traffic and often require off-road vehicles or bikes.
