DENNIS TOWNSHIP – One of New Jersey’s larger recreational-vehicle dealers is growing when most other businesses are shrinking.

Driftwood RV Center in Ocean View decided last year to expand its inventory even though that meant carrying more debt and risk, sales manager Robert Androckitis said. He credits this decision with helping the company to buck an industry-wide recession.

Nationwide, sales of RVs began to decline with the recession in 2007. Sales continued to fall by 30 percent in 2008, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.

But Driftwood had a great 2008, marketing director John Worthington said. The company normally ranks fifth in New Jersey in RV sales. He said the independent market-research company Statistical Surveys Inc. found that Driftwood sold more RVs and motor homes than any other New Jersey dealership.

“We put a big push on finding out what our customers wanted,” Androckitis said.

>SANTA CLAUS, IN—-Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus, Indiana is hosting a Job Fair on Saturday, February 7, 2009 in the upper level of the Santa Claus American Legion.

The Job Fair will take place between 10:00 a.m. and Noon Central Standard Time. Those interested in seasonal work this summer are invited to attend the fair anytime during the 2-hour period and fill out an application. Lake Rudolph staff will also be available to answer questions. Up to 90 seasonal positions are available in these areas: Housekeeping, Maintenance, Grounds, Call Center, Welcome Center, Camp Store, Life Guards, Security, and Shuttle Drivers.

College students, high school students, retirees and others are encouraged to apply. Some positions offered require the applicant to be at least 17 years of age. More information is available by calling (812) 937-4458. The Santa Claus American Legion is located on Hwy. 245.

Applications will also be available at the Lake Rudolph office weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Due to the office fire on December 27, the office is now located in a trailer behind the damaged building.
