Mike Dalton, general manager at McKay’s RV and Marine Center in Holden, said he didn’t know what to expect coming into this weekend’s show, which continues at the Bangor Civic Center today. So Dalton said Saturday he was “thrilled” at the number of RVs and campers he had sold so far.

“RV Electrical Systems: A Basic Guide to Troubleshooting, Repairing and Improvement” covers both AC and DC electrical systems and is another must have. Excellent 12 volt coverage and the best source on 120 volt AC systems. If it’s not covered in this book, you can probably get along without it. The authors go into extraordinary detail without getting into engineering “lingo” and they tell you things nobody else does, and those things many authors assume you already know — that you don’t. RV Electrical Systems is available at Amazon.

The romance of the open road, footloose and fancy free — a perfect chance to scratch a serious case of wanderlust.
Or not.
In the case of Lou Stevens and Deborah Hochban, residents of Cle Elum’s Whispering Pines RV Park, it was a chance to downsize — and simplify.
Hochban and Stevens, both 60, are former Auburn High School classmates who fell in love a few years back. He’s a former auto body worker. She sewed window coverings and did design work.
Now retired, they sold her home in Auburn last year and moved into a used 32-foot fifth wheel they bought from a friend.
So far, their total miles are those they logged coming from the West Side to the park in Cle Elum.
They traded in the annoyance of traffic congestion and a faster pace of life for a quieter, simpler life in the Upper County.
“It just kind of lightens things up,” said Deborah, nestled into an attractive couch in their living area that folds out into a bed.
