Some people are still feeling the effects of the heavy rainfall on Mount Lemmon this weekend. Almost nine inches poured and a group of campers were caught in the aftermath.
“Coming down here is just like coming home, I love the mountains.”
“Sunday night I was watching your news channel. They were saying rain was expected but the mountains were going to get heavy rain.”
Monday morning, Shawn woke up to find four feet of water blocking the road leading out of the campground.
Shawn and 200 other campers were left stranded. When it rains heavily on Mount Lemmon, the Canada Del Oro Wash floods and blocks the only road out of the campground, a regular occurrence since the 2003 Aspen Fire.

>A Navy helicopter made an unscheduled landing at Cherrystone Family Camping Resort on the Eastern Shore Wednesday afternoon.
Mike Maus from Naval Air Force Atlantic confirms that an MH-53 Sea Dragon helicopter from Naval Station Norfolk-based Squadron HM-14 (Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14, the Vanguard) made a precautionary emergency landing.

Plans for a high-end RV park near Bay Harbor cleared a second stage of Resort Township’s land-use approval process Tuesday.
Signature Motor Coach Resorts intends to develop the site into a 125-site resort catering exclusively to Class A motorcoaches, which are well-equipped RVs measuring 30 feet and longer. The park would operate seasonally from May through October.
