>Travelers from Virginia were fueling their motor home when fuel splashed onto the side of the vehicle and was ignited through the vent that leads to the refrigerator pilot light. A clerk from the Trading Post saw the fire and extinguished it with the businesses fire extinguisher. There were no injuries. Minor surface damage was sustained to the outside of the motor home due to the quick extinguishment. The vehicle is insured.
>Monaco Coach Corp. of Coburg has announced what it says is the RV industry’s first dealer franchise program.
Just as car dealerships often feature a single make of car, Monaco’s Franchise of the Future program, designed to increase market share, dealers will maintain an outdoor sign highlighting one of the four Monaco brands.
>The Fairbanks City Council said nothing on a proposal to relax overnight camping rules for store parking lots and moved the ordinance forward to its next meeting, despite hearing testimony against the ordinance.
Most of the speakers, who were either employed by or owned private campgrounds, said they couldn’t compete with large stores that could offer free parking to motorhomes and other campers.
